| Current Point Standings Introducing the 2006 L5Flyers Points Series
L5Flyers is pleased to announce the start of
our 2005 Point Series. The Point Series is
a season-long (January - November) competition that includes all
club activities on and off the bike. The
purpose of the Point Series is to encourage
participation in team events, races, group
rides, organized centuries, and community
service work while fostering teamwork, camaraderie,
and some friendly rivalry. Though club members
will receive points for participating in
races, race performance has no bearing on
points awarded. There are also Points categories
where race points do not count in order to
encourage spirited competition among club
members who don't race.
Points
Club members earn points by participating in
L5Flyers group rides, races, centuries, and
most importantly, community outreach events.
Points are awarded as follows:
- L5Flyers Group Rides: 1 point
The Sunday Outback Ride and the Wednesday Night L5Flyers Ride are the official
group rides of L5Flyers.
- Organized Centuries: 2 points
Participants will receive 2 points for
participating in organized centuries that
appear on the team calendar. Partipants
receive 2 points for officially
registering and attempting any distance option, i.e. 30 mile option,
60 mile option, 100 mile option, etc. Partipants
receive a special one-time bonus
of 2 points for completing their first-ever 100 mile option.
- Races: 3 points
Club members receive 3 points for starting
in a sanctioned race.
- Charity and Community Outreach Events:
5 points
Club members receive 5 points for volunteering
in an approved charity or community outreach
event. Sample events include cycling community
events
such as trail maintenance and non-cycling community outreach such as
volunteer work at a hospital. We will continually
update the list of community charities.
If your favorite is not on the list, please inform us prior to volunteering
to determine if the charity is point eligible.
Recognition
L5Flyers club members with the highest points
in their category will receive special recognition
at the end of the year.
Categories of recognition will include Most
Charity/Community Service Points, Most
Race Points, and Most Organized
Rides. Additionally, we'll recognize
the male and female winners in the GC (highest
overall points).
Rules and Stipulations
All events will be coordinated through the
L5Flyers website. Points will be accumulated during the 2006 calendar year. Each member will be solely
responsible for entering her/his own event
participation through the My Events section
of the website. We will frequently update
the calendar with races, organized centuries,
and community outreach events. Members will
be allowed to go back and enter events in
which they participate, but we encourage
you to enter your events regularly to ensure
accuracy and get credit for your work.
Members are held to their honor to accurately
enter events in which they participate and
claim points. As a reminder, all club members
will be able to view the events entered for
every other member of the club. In addition
to self-policing, L5Flyers board will ensure
the fairness of the competition by periodically
monitoring results and entertaining disputes
from club members.
Only the Sunday Outback ride and Wednesday
night L5Flyers group ride will count toward
points. Certain events throughout the season
may carry additional bonus points. These will
be advertised in advance.
